An entrance is 4 blocks from the inn to the 16 mile linear paved walk, along the banks of the Chattahoochee River from Lake Oliver southward to Fort Benning; great for walking/jogging, biking, and rollerblading.

- Oxbow Meadows –
Nestled on 1,600 acres of hardwood wetland habitat in a bend of the Chattahoochee River, this nature discovery center features two nature trails which wind between ponds and allow visitors to view native flora and fauna. A hands-on interpretive facility is also on site that focuses on the natural and cultural history of the region; 10 minutes away.

- Columbus Museum –
The Columbus Museum is known for its concentration of American art and regional history. The 86,000 square foot facility displays 15 permanent collections as well as traveling exhibition galleries of fine and decorative art; located 5 minutes from the inn. Free admission.
- Historic Columbus Foundation Heritage Corner –Walking tours are daily at 2pm, except major holidays, of 5 historic houses in the original 26 block Historic District including the home of “Doc” Pemberton, originator of the formula for Coca Cola; 2 person minimum; small fee; 3 blocks from the inn on the corner of 7th St. and Broadway.
- Ma Rainey House Museum –
The Mother of the Blues, "Ma" Rainey, was born Gertrude Pridgett in a poor neighborhood of Columbus, Georgia, in 1886. This is the last home of Columbus resident Gertrude "Ma" Rainey & was recently renovated into a museum to recognize the contributions "Ma" Rainey made to the world of American Blues music; 2 blocks from the inn at 805 8th Avenue.
- Port Columbus National Civil War Naval Museum –A 40,000 square foot structure that features two original American Civil War vessels, as well as uniforms, equipment and weapons used by the Union and Confederate Navies. It is the only museum in the nation that tells the story of the two navies during the Civil War. The museum also displays their extensive collection of naval art and artifacts. 5 minutes from the inn.
- Linwood Cemetery – dates from 1828 with significant historical markers.

- Columbus State University RiverPark Campus - The Columbus State University’s world-class performing arts campus is located along the river in historic downtown Columbus. This fine and performing arts campus is made up of the University’s music, theatre and art departments which include Theatre on the Park and the new Corn Center for the Visual Arts. New gallery open. RiverPark Campus is several blocks within walking distance of the inn.
